Yaletown roundhouse | vancouver, bC
Once the western terminus of the Canadian Pacific Railway, this revitalized public plaza in Vancouver’s Yaletown neighbourhood is now a setting for live performances, private events and community festivals.
At the centre of the plaza a specialized crane structure supports canopies suspended over a raised wooden platform that offers movable modular seating. Openings in the platform have been fitted with a mist feature - a reference to the plaza’s history and the Age of Steam.
The mist feature acts as an interactive play area for children during the day and is equipped with an integrated high intensity colour-changing LED lighting system which transforms the plaza into an attractive gathering place at night.
